The ECGrid MCP Server is live and the questions are already rolling in. We wanted to go beyond the announcement and hear directly from the people who built it.
We sat down with the two people closest to the ECGrid MCP Server launch, our COO and CPO, Jon Gatrell, and our CSO, Tony D’Angelo, to talk about why now, what it means for customers, and what it means for partners. Here’s what they had to say.
Jon Gatrell, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Product Officer
What made now the right time to launch the ECGrid MCP Server?
“People are getting real work done inside AI assistants now. Millions of them, every day. Sending them off to another app breaks that flow for no good reason. So we put ECGrid where the work already happens. Agents have run on our API for a while, the MCP server extends it to our users.”
What’s a customer use case that really captures why you built this?
“Somebody asks in a meeting, ‘did that 850 go through to my partner yesterday?’ Today that’s a portal login, a search, and maybe a support ticket. With the MCP server they just ask and get the answer. We didn’t replace the portal. We replaced the effort of getting an answer. That’s the whole point.”
What’s next on the roadmap after this first release?
“We see this as three phases. Phase one was access and analysis, which starts with this release. Ask a question, understand the answer. We’re well into phase two now, provisioning and communications management, so you can set things up and change them from the chat. Phase three is the full stack of ECGrid’s B2B integration capabilities.”
Tony D’Angelo, Chief Strategy Officer
What should partners and ISVs know about this?
“First, this is something our partners can build on, not something that competes with what you sell. You still own the customer relationship and the experience which you do best. With MCP, your team can now answer your customers’ questions by asking the AI assistant already open on their desktop. That means less time spent researching and more time spent on your core business. It’s one more way we’re living up to our promise: you create the experience, we power the connections.”
What market challenges are you seeing that make this the right moment for this?
“Organizations are under pressure to have a real AI story, not just a slide. At the same time, most AI initiatives stall on implementation, too much custom integration, too much lift. MCP changes that. It connects your AI assistant directly to ECGrid, no custom build required. You get working answers today, not just a roadmap promise.”
How does this help partners stand out with their own customers?
“Your customers want a faster, more efficient experience without the escalations and support tickets. This gives you a capability that sets you apart, one that helps you win and keep customers, without having to build it yourself or wait on a big development cycle.”
Two vantage points, one consistent theme: less friction, more time back for the work that matters. That’s the idea behind the ECGrid MCP Server, and it’s just getting started.
