December 2011 Notes

E-RETAIL IS HUGE WITH EDI
At Loren Data we track the health of ECGrid in many ways. There are direct alerts for problem files, bad routings, etc. However, one of the things we do is trend monitoring. We have an expected characterization of the traffic through our system by time of day and day of week. This really helps us find outages and other problems.

So when we see something different, we investigate. Well, since Thanksgiving, the base level of EDI has gone up considerably, all hours of the day. What we found is that all those Cyber Sales are being backed up by EDI!

I can’t tell you where the economy is going, but I can tell you that this is a growth area for EDI and a sure sign that sales for on-line retailers is going to be very good this year.

You can check out the 72-hour traffic graph at https://ecgrid.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/ECGridTraffic.png. It is updated every 5 minutes.

WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR 2012?
Any new initiatives or areas we can be of help? If there is anything where we can do to help you extend your managed messaging infrastructure, let us know. We can reduce your internal supports costs for all sorts of communications channels including:

FTP (SFTP, FTP/S etc.), IPSec, HTTP, AS2, X.400

X.400 (Yes, it is still around!)
Did you know that we are an official X.400 Administrative Domain (ADMD), registered with ANSI? We host our own MTA (message transfer agent) and can handle all your X.400 EDI messaging needs.

LOREN DATA v. GXS
Just today we have filed our appeal in the Fourth Circuit. Glenn Manishin is our lead counsel and has prepared a tremendous brief. More details to follow.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah or any other special spiritual holiday this time of year, I would like to wish you, your family and your friends a very joyous and special time; and the businessman in my wishes you a very profitable 2012.

Best regards,

Todd Gould
